Concrete Cutting
Concrete cutting is a process of controlled sawing, drilling and removing concrete. Skilled operators use special saws to cut concrete and asphalt with precision, accuracy and very few mistakes. Modern concrete cutting techniques involve the use of specialized machinery to leave a smooth, attractive finish of concrete, asphalt, metal and rock. The five most common methods are: diamond sawing (faster, more precise, and can cut rebar), concrete wall sawing (circular blades on a track-mounted machine for walls 16-36 inches thick), flat sawing (also known as slab sawing for floors, bridge decks and pavements), core drilling (creating precise circular openings for pipes, wires, venting), and wire sawing (for particularly large or complicated projects using diamond-segmented cables). Concrete cutting tools include concrete cutting machines powered by two-stroke gas engines, hydraulic power units, air compressors, or electric motors. The basic concrete cutting process involves laying out the area to be cut, using a hand saw to cut up to 4 inches deep, and using an industrial grade machine for deeper cuts.
