Highway and Airport Services

A-Core has completed many airport projects, ranging from new project construction to existing concrete and asphalt rehabilitation. Our slab, ride-along, and curb cutting saws are capable of providing clean and quick sawing of asphalt, concrete, and pavement slabs for runways and taxiways. With our vast inventory of diamond bits, we create perfectly sized holes for recessed lighting along runways and tarmacs. We understand that downtime on runways and taxiways needs to be kept to an absolute minimum; therefor, we work quickly and efficiently. No matter how big or small the project may be, A-Core's experience with Airport agencies provides the expertise and assurance to accomplish any size job at any location.

The Highway Division at A-Core performs a multitude of heavy highway, airport, airbase and commercial concrete cutting and sealing projects. From existing roadways, runways, and rehabilitation, to new roadways, department of transportation, Federal Aviation Airports and city projects. With an average of 11 years experience throughout the entire A-Core Highway Division, we will always have the right experience on the job.

A-Core's Highway Division serves federal aviation airports, state departments of transportation, city public works departments, and commercial concrete contractors who work in roadway and airfield environments. Our crews are trained in highway safety protocols, DOT specification compliance, and the specialized cutting techniques required for pavement, joint, and slab work at scale. Whether we're rehabbing an interstate joint system, green sawing a freshly poured runway, or removing damaged slab panels from a taxiway, A-Core delivers consistent, spec-compliant results every time.

Our Specialties

JOINT REHABILITATION

JOINT REHABILITATION

All control joint sealants have an expiration date. Once that date expires, the joint seal will begin to break down and allow water or debris into the joint. That joint seal needs to be removed and replaced allowing the concrete to last for years or decades. Our highway division has ride it saws which are mobile driven machines, and specific concrete blades that allow us to quickly get the old sealant removed and ready for new seal to be installed.

GREEN SAWING

GREEN SAWING

Green Sawing is a process required on most concrete slabs shortly after it has poured. Once concrete has started the curing process, or once it starts to get hard, it is going to crack. By cutting the concrete before it is “hard”, we are controlling the cracking of that slab. There is a small window of opportunity to make these cuts in a new slab, too soon will cause issues and too late will cause cracking where it is not desired. A-Core has the knowledge, experience, and equipment to make a green slab look great and last for years or decades.

BREAK AND REMOVAL

BREAK AND REMOVAL

Concrete Cutting is the easy part of the demolition process. Breaking, removing, and hauling it off site can be daunting for most. Our crews have the equipment, trucks, and strong backs to get it out of location it was placed.

DEEP SAWING

DEEP SAWING

A-Core has the people and equipment to be able to cut any slab depth. Deep Sawing is when we are required to spin blades up to 60” diameter on a flat saw or deep ride it saw, to cut through that slab. This allows for a much easier and safer demolition process to get those slabs removed and replaced.

SLAB PANEL REPLACEMENT

SLAB PANEL REPLACEMENT

A slab panel is the squares on the concrete created during the green sawing process. Occasionally, it makes more sense to remove panels vs. removing the entire slab. A-Core has the ability to saw cut the panels using a deep saw, remove the panels, and get them replaced at any airport or freeway.
